Using A Planner To Accomplish Your Goals

the picture above is property of  TheSelfReinventionDiary

A planner in my opinion is probably the most useful tool. One key thing I learned from years of failing at goals and new years resolutions is the importance of STRUCTURE. We say "I want to lose 50 pounds". Beyond that there is very little structure for most people. Mini goals are crucial when trying to make a major change and planners are a useful way to track that.

Take your major goal and break it into mini goals. An example of using your planner to accomplish a goal.:
Weight Loss:
gym inspiration:

1. Set daily, weekly and monthly goals. Your daily goals may be to drink 8 glasses of water, and have 5 servings of fruits and vegetables. Your weekly goals could be to workout 5 times a week. A monthly goal may be to lose a specific amount that month.

2. Plan workout sessions. Instead of just saying you will go to the gym more, pencil in specific dates and times you will go to the gym.

3. Track your diet goals. If you want to eat 5 fruits and vegetables everyday, put a star for everyday you accomplish that. Or a red X for everyday you don't. Doing this makes me more eager to stick to my daily goals.

4. Check it off! This goes along with #3, consistently checking off what you accomplish will make you feel happy about what you've stuck to. It will also allow you to face what you've been procrastinating about. When you set out to accomplish a major goal, it's easy to feel lost or defeated because you haven't accomplished it. Utilizing a planner and mini goals allows you to celebrate your progress.

Other Major Resolutions

I will elaborate on these later

Get My Drivers License *I'll explain now*

I already know someone is reading this thinking, "what the hell? How old are you?". Well let me explain, I am more than old enough to have my license, but it was one of those things I decided to put off for a week or two. A few weeks became a month. A month became a year. Before you know it, a year became several years. So here I am with no licence.

Spiritual Goals

Be Happy

love, smile, and couple image
This is an obvious one, but I will put it into the universe anyway. All of the goals and changes I'm pursuing have one primary purpose: to help me become happy with my life.

Forgive Myself and Others

Make Your Own Motivational Quote Images | Karen Salmansohn’s awesome app called “Instant Peptalk.” https://notsalmon.infusionsoft.com/go/appy/krystals/:
I will never be happy or content until I finally forgive myself. Stop holding onto how much better your life would've been if you did certain things differently. Instead fully accept where you are in life and get excited about how you can transform your life beyond your wildest imagination. Also I have to free myself from grudges and holding on to sadness regarding those whom have wronged me.

Meditate

Regular meditation is said to have life-altering benefits; the practice has been shown to reduce stress, increase practitioners’ well-being, and help individuals avoid a host of illnesses brought on by busy, stressful lifestyles.:
Meditation is something that I've done quite a bit before, but not consistently. By the end of 2016,  I would like to be meditating everyday for at least 25 minutes. It sounds easier than it is. Especially for those of us with short attention spans.

Use the Law of Attraction In My Day-to-Day Life

So much is possible and pretty much all of it depends on you. Be authentic. Live your purpose. www.julielichty.com:
There was a time in my life about two years ago, where I got really into manifesting with the law of attraction. I made some big life changes and for that brief moment in time, so much of what I asked the universe for happened. I know, many of you are rolling your eyes, but it's true. I wrote down on a note card that I wanted my parents to get a new car.  Within two months, they received some good financial news and were able to start the process of looking for a new car. I said I wanted to go to New York City, I actually posted about this on Pinterest in addition to the note card. I ended up being able to go to New York with my mom and aunt. However,  shortly after the trip to NYC, something happened that sent me into a downward spiral. I tried to get back into the swing of things, but without continuing those big life changes- nothing happened. In 2016, I would like to commit myself to getting back on track.

My Physical and Personality Resolutions

Lose Weight

Tips To Stay Fit & Healthy In College -:

Weight loss has been the primary target of my procrastination for almost 10 years now. I remember hopping on a scale as a freshman in high school and realizing I needed to lose weight. So I started a SparkPeople account. I would be active for a couple days in a row, then abandon it and my weight loss goals for months/years. It's time to take this seriously.  I want to be healthy, fit into the clothes I want, and feel confident.

Workout 5 Times A Week For A Minimum of 30 Minutes

inspiration motivation:
This goes hand in hand with the weight loss. I have a treadmill right outside my bedroom door. There is no excuse not to accomplish this. To keep me on track, I plan on taking different types of classes and reviewing my experience on this blog.

Become Vegetarian or At Least Drastically Reduce My Meat Consumption

Cliché, I Know...

2016, amazing, and quote image
Every year around this time countless people begin making new years resolutions. They swear they will workout regularly, save more money, lose 20 pounds, or find "the one". Then within 2 months (often before two weeks), they fall back into their old habits- if they ever alter them to begin with. As a result, the very mention of new years resolutions and self-reinvention journeys draw eye rolls and sighs from many people.

Despite the plethora of people that have come and failed before me, I've decided to challenge myself to make a change in the incoming year. I've formulated a blueprint to help me stick to this challenge throughout the entire year. At the end of 2016 we will see how successful I was.

Ideally, as I go on this journey people will discover this blog and join me. Or at the very least hold me accountable.

The next few posts will be about my goals, resolutions, ideal life, and past.
